Builders Wanted

Good at building? Why not put your skills to use by building something for the server!

As well as the main world we have a second one called 'Adventure', the world is an ongoing project which hopefully over time will become filled with explorable features such as dungeons and minigames. It's hoped that many of these will be unique creations designed and built by our players, either as individual or team projects.

So, if your interested then here's what you need to know;

1 - Come up with an idea! Check what's been done and ask questions if your not sure.

Things to consider;
  • Prizes/loot can be in the form of kits, special loot crates or in game money.
    • For minigames a combination of money and loot crate keys is used, given automatically at the end of the game.
    • For dungeons kits (via signs) are used, although the kits can give a loot crate key which is then used later. The loot crate can also be hidden in the build, although the hologram is visible through walls etc.
  • You will get to help decide on special loot items for your build, such as a tool/weapon with specific lore. However, items with custom lore can only be given as part of kits, not loot crate prizes. Loot crate prizes can however have custom names (including colour text).
  • Players will get to/from the 'explorables' via portals either in or around spawn or the mansion, so builds which have an obvious link would be great additions (for example a portal in the church leading to a creepy graveyard or cathedral style ruins etc).
  • Players must not be able to enter/exit the build any way other than using portals (invisible barrier blocks can be used to surround it if necessary).
  • Mob spawning is turned off in Adventure world, but you can include up to 2 mob spawners.
Extra things to consider if you want your build to be a minigame;
  • All minigames must follow the same basic format, reach the Minigame Finish sign at the end. However this is more flexible than it may first seem, some options are;
    • Parkour/Jump Puzzle.
    • Maze/Labyrinth.
    • Dropper/Death Drop.
    • Any other other puzzle you can come up with!
  • For minigames you'll need two small rooms, one to act as an arrival point (containing the Minigame Start sign) and one to act as an end point (containing the portal back to spawn or possibly the next stage).
  • Inventories are safely stored whilst playing minigames and replaced with a predefined one which we can tailor to your build.
  • Minigames can be set to only allow a single player at once or to allow multiple players to use it at the same time. They can also be set to require multiple players, allowing for puzzles that require more than one person to solve (each player can start in the same or a different place), with either the first person to reach the end getting the prize, or all players.

2 - Submit your idea! Be clear about your plans, maybe even give screenshots of a prototype.

Things to consider;
  • You can submit ideas via email, discord or in game message, whichever you'd prefer.
  • Initially DiggyCrew will vote on which build ideas we decide to go with, eventually as the number of players grows we are likely to also use polls to help decide.
  • We'll be looking for variety, so the more original the idea the more likely we'll want to use it!
  • A maximum of 2 builds will be going on at any one time so you may have to wait a while, we'll let you know about this when we approve your idea.
  • Each build will be built within its own WorldGuard region, for flexibility, so you'll need to give us an idea of what area size you need (height x width x length). The maximum dimensions for any build are 70 x 70 x 120, if you want to use a particular area of the map be sure to let us know so we can check for overlaps first.
  • The use of redstone is fine, although you need to consider possible lag. Nothing should be running constantly and everything must function over and over without manual resets.

3 - Build it! You might want to run it past a DiggyCrew member first.

Things to consider;
  • You basically have two options when it comes to building;
    • Build it in single player using the modded client and create a schematic using Schematica. Then send it to me so I can take a look and put everything you need in chests so you're good to go. This is the best bet for builds that you want to tailor to the landscape, keep flexible, or that require lots of expensive materials.
    • Build it in the main world, then when you're ready I'll copy and paste it. Once it's in place you can make any final tweaks. This is the best bet if your build is biome specific (other than forest), as I can copy the surrounding landscape and blend it in after pasting. Materials can be provided via tracked chests.
  • The world seed is 6964618151603271054, which is mostly flat forest. The world border is currently set to 500 blocks, but may be expanded at some point.
  • When building in the 'Adventure' world you will be granted unlimited fly, but unable to use minigames, kits (except those at spawn) or portals.
  • You will be given build permission to the region until the build is complete (ideally 3 weeks max), along with unlimited fly in that world.
Players will always be given full credit for their builds. Deliberate abuse of any aspect of this project will result in the player no longer being able to participate in future builds.
